# Getting Started

### Prerequisites

Before connecting to Lytx Data Connector, ensure you have:

- **Active Lytx account with Data Connector enabled**
- **One of the supported BI tools installed:**
  - Microsoft Excel 2016 or later (Desktop Edition)
  - Power BI Desktop
  - Tableau Desktop 2020.2 or later
- **Connector credentials from Lytx Support**


### Step 1: Request Access

Contact your Lytx Support or Customer Success Manager or submit a support ticket requesting Data Connector activation and credentials. Our support team will respond with the credentials within 1 business day.

### Step 2: Receive Credentials

Once approved, you'll receive an email containing:

- **Username**: Your connector username (default format: `data_user`)
- **Password**: Auto-generated secure password
- **Database Name**: Your organization's GeoTab Database Name


Store these credentials securely. Passwords cannot be retrieved once sent. If lost, you must request a credential reset.
